The complete ecosystem for a responsible wellness industry

The GreenLight Wellness compliance model is founded on the pillars of Responsible Adult Use (RAU), operating within a private members' club framework as constitutionally protected by the landmark Constitutional Court judgment in Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development v Prince (2018), which decriminalised the private use and cultivation of cannabis by adults for personal purposes. This judgment forms the constitutional bedrock upon which the private club model is structured, distinguishing member-based cultivation, possession and use from commercial retail activity falling outside the private domain.

This framework operates in parallel with, and is reinforced by, the Section 22A Research and Development Project under a permit issued by the Department of Health in 2019. This multi-year permit authorises the Hennops River Valley Association, the African Cultural Heritage Trust and Druids Garden partnership to conduct ongoing research and commercial research trials, including the development of new cannabis-derived products, in support of the evolving regulatory and commercial landscape of the South African cannabis industry.
